Music Train Families Have Talent

'', ''

Outline of Scheme

Parents frequently tell us how much they appreciate it when different musical instruments are played in class, and sometimes we are lucky enough to have a parent offer to play for us.

During spring term, we want you to celebrate your talents with your children and are launching ‘Music Train Families Have Talent’.

From January until the end of term, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, au pairs and other family members are invited to bring their instruments to class to play Twinkle Little Star to the children. If they are more advanced and can play something in addition, this would be very appreciated but we want to keep it child-friendly and minimise any pressure on the family member. If they can make it to other classes in addition to the one your child attends, that would be amazing.

Rewarding your Teacher!

We are sure you think the world of your Music Train teacher and know that many of you have been coming to sessions for years. Now you can help to earn her a treat. The teacher of the site gaining the highest number (by percentage) of twinkles across all her classes will be treated to an afternoon tea at the Ritz with a friend of their choice.

Competition Rules

  • Each individual twinkle rendition will be recorded on a log, which will be submitted to Head Office. In addition, a photo or video of each player must be published on the local Music Train facebook page with the date and time of class.
  • By taking part in the competition as a ‘twinkle player’ you automatically agree to either a video or photo being displayed on The Music Train facebook pages.
  • As well as family members, guardians and close family friends are also eligible to play.
  • Only one player per class per week.
  • A player can attend multiple classes, which will each be counted separately.
  • Parents trained in singing can choose to sing a solo rather than play an instrument.
  • The winning site is the one with the greatest percentage of classes featuring an instrumentalist/singer.Eg 50/55 sessions (91%) would win over 100/135 sessions (74%).
  • The competition will start on 18th January 2014 and end on 5th April 2014.
  • In the event of a tie between two teachers, the winning teachers will accompany each other to the Ritz and no additional place for a friend will be offered. In the event of a tie between more than two teachers, all winners will be entered into a draw and two names will be drawn at random to win the prize.
  • Teachers from all branches: Bude, Hertford, Hitchin, Hoddesdon, Letchworth, Stevenage – Gt Ashby, Stevenage – Roaring Meg, Stotfold and Welwyn Garden City are eligible to take part in the competition which will be judged by an independent adjudicator.
