Frances joined us in December 2009 bringing with her 20 years primary school experience as a Classroom Teacher and more recently as a Head Teacher. Frances took a break from school teaching to bring up her 3 year old daughter. During this time, she has attended the Music Train as a parent and has been so impressed by our teaching methods, that she asked to join the team. Frances studied piano and violin to grade 7 level and has extensive experience of music curriculum planning and teaching music in her school roles.

A THREE WEEK MUSIC COURSE - ABSOLUTELY FREE!

The Music Train Hatfield, is working in partnership with the local Children’s Centres, libraries and NCT to offer a 3 week course absolutely free to families living in the areas of Hatfield, Welham Green, Colney Heath, Wheathampstead, North Mymms, Essendon or St Albans.*

To book in, call 01438 821849 quoting which of the above organisations you have links with.  You will be asked to send a £5 deposit to secure your place, which will be refunded to you in full at the end of the 3 consecutive weeks.

*Offer ends 15th November 2010 and is limited to the places available on the courses.   The goal of the offer is to make local families aware of the high quality musical education available in the area and to provide the opportunity to try it out.  We therefore regret that the offer is not open to existing or previous clients of The Music Train.

Summer Term 2010 Classes

TERM DATES: Monday 26th April - Monday 26th July 2010 with a break for half term w/c 31st May 2010. There will be no classes on Monday 3rd May as this is a Bank Holiday.

April/May 10: General Topic - On the Farm Advanced Topic - Stringed Instruments
June/July 10: General Topic - Holidays/Leisure Advanced Topic - Music from holiday destinations / Shapes

Families joining our classes for the very first time are invited to try a single session before deciding whether or not they wish to sign up for the rest of the term. If you do wish to join for the term, an additional £5 registration fee is charged for families that have never previously attended. This is only ever charged once per family and future siblings do not need to pay a registration fee. The fee covers the cost of the welcome pack consisting of a welcome booklet and one child's T-shirt. Additional T-shirts can be purchased for £3.

Cancelled classes

We regret that if classes have to be cancelled due to force majeure such as snow, or on specific medical advice because of the risk posed by swine flu, they cannot be refunded.

TERM DATES: Monday 6th September - Saturday 11th December 2010 with a break for half term w/c 25th October 2010.

September/October 2010: General Topic - Transport Advanced Topic - Tempo
Novemer/December 2010: General Topic - Food Advanced Topic - Percussion Instruments

Classes are held in The Wellfield Room, Birchwood Leisure Centre, Longmead, Hatfield, Hertfordshire, AL10 0AN. This centre is just behind the big Tesco's at the A1M junction roundabout on Olding's Corner. Hatfield Kid's Fun Zone (formerly Topsy Turvy and before that, Activity World) is located in the same building and there is an ample car park.
